Bootscout is not available from the WordPress store. Before you begin this step make sure you have downloaded the most up-to-date theme from here.
Installing the theme for the first time
- From the WordPress dashboard navigate to Appearance -> Themes
- At the top left of the screen click Add New
- At the top left of the screen click Upload theme and select bootscout.zip which should have been downloaded as part of the before you began these steps
- Click Install now
- Once installed click activate. This can also be done from within Appearance -> Themes
Updating the theme
Bootscout can be updated by downloading the latest zip file from Github and manually updating the theme or by using the plugin Git Updater. It is recommended to use Git Updater in order to not miss when updates become available.
Manual update
- From the WordPress dashboard navigate to Appearance -> Themes
- At the top left of the screen click Add New
- At the top left of the screen click Upload theme and select bootscout.zip which should have been downloaded as part of the before you began these steps
- Click Install now
- Once prompted, agree to replace the previously installed Bootscout theme with the new version. This prompt will include various requirements for the theme such as minimum PHP version. If any of these are highlighted in red you may wish to upgrade them before proceeding to ensure compatibility.
Note: If the update fails to install, delete the current version of the theme and follow the instructions to install the theme above.
With Git Updater
- Install Git Updater. Git Updater is not available in the WordPress store and will need to be installed manually from the zip file.
- From the WordPress dashboard navigate to Updates
- If an update for Bootscout is available it will show here. Select it and install
Note: You can enable auto updates to always stay up-to-date.
